Grown-ups never understand anything by themselves, and it is tiresome for children to be always and forever explaining things to them
Antoine De Saint-Exupery, The Little Prince
My Home is a project I dedicated to the children of the Spanish Quarters of Naples. When I am in Naples, I live in this area of the city, thus the Quarters are also a bit “my home”. Located downtown, the Spanish Quarters are a place of great social difficulties. 10% of the children of the city live here; 35% of them drop out of school between the age of 8 and 14. This is the area of Naples with the highest risk of deviance at an early age. Organized crime, Camorra, is present in the daily life and regulates that of many families. There are no green areas, no facilities for children and teenagers that often feel abandoned by an absent State. I asked to 5th and a 6th grade children what they like of the Spanish Quarters and what they do not like; further, I also asked them if they ever heard or saw shooting. Their words testify a reality that too often shows no concern for them.
